It's Product Release Day and the Birds have it‼️

Yep, you got that right! It's the last Tuesday of the month and at Taylored Expressions that means it's Card Making Kit Release Day 🙌🏻 and this one is Super Adorbs!!!!

I'll show you what's in the Kit then we'll get into a couple of cards I made, so let's get started!!!

I mean ... is this too dang cute or what !!??!! Those bird houses!!! and those darling Birds!!!

When I first laid eyes on this kit I knew I had to incorporate the Taylored Expressions GWP Pretty Postage Stamp from April which is .... a bird house!

I stacked the Pretty Postage birdhouses in rainbow order like a birdhouse condo (I'm a Realtor so of course that's what I see 😉). And to make it even cuter I made a shaker card out of the birdhouse hanging from a branch!

To be honest, a lot of us just don't have the coloring prowess and skill that Lori Craig and a few of the other TE Design Team members have so I made a point to make both of my projects this month with very minimal coloring. And to be even more honest, I used my colored pencils as well as a myriad of alcohol markers on about a dozen stamped and cut-out Doodle Birds and they all went into the trash so I had to go back to the drawing board.

I highlighted a couple of the belly stripes on my little bird and gave her a thin line of "eyeshadow" to add just a hint more color on her. I'm pretty certain we can all do at least that much coloring (I used a colored pencil but you use whatever you're comfortable with).

And the last bit of coloring I did on my Doodle Bird Digs card was the base of the birdhouse and around the door/entrance. I grabbed a purple colored pencil for both of those areas and that's the extent of my coloring on this card! Whew!

And instead of coloring the birdhouse (trust me ... I used markers on a few of those too and you know where they ended up 🗑️) I grabbed one of the tiny flower dies from the TE Garden Variety die set and cut enough flowers to line along the roofline of the birdhouse. (YAY ... no coloring but more added color!!!!)

Trust me, I wish I was an amazing colorist but . . . so far my attempts usually send me into a stressful tizzy so when TE comes up with a kit like the Doodle Birds card kit that allows the elements to be cut out of colored cardstock or with minimal coloring, I'm a happy girl!

Sorry ... that was long! Just know that if you're' not a colorist, I've got you! Now onto card #2!

Did you notice? No coloring on this one!! I did add quite a bit of color using a decoupage method on the birds, which was fun! I haven't done that in like forever! I used a piece of typing paper, scrunched it up, sprayed it heavily with water, scrunched it up some more, then glued it onto a piece of Sugar Cube cardstock, pressing it out relatively flat with my hands then I painted it with a mixture of water, TE watercolors and some Unicorn Mist.

Why didn't I just use colored cardstock, you ask? You totally can, but I like my card elements to have texture and give heightened interest, creating more of an experience for the onlookers and recipient.

For the Tree Top I inked up the cutting die and love the sporadic placement of the ink using that technique! For the Tree Trunk I heat embossed with clear VersaMark ink using the TE Wood Plank Background stamp on Toffee cardstock.

And there you have it! Two fun cards that almost anyone can make! Just use your imagination and make something fun! Which one is your favorite?
