Keeping track!
Today we'll focus on keeping track of items you've used while creating your paper masterpieces. No matter what program or system you use to organize your crafty stash, do you ever look at a card you created and can't for the life of you remember what you used to create it?!? I'm pretty sure I'm not alone in that department =)
I realize not everyone is OCD but for those of us that are, I keep details (maybe a tad over the top) of my cards as I'm working on them. I have done this since my card-making journey began and way before becoming a Team Designer for Taylored Expressions and am so glad I got into the habit because I can't tell you how many times I've gone to submit my Design Team projects to Taylor and cannot remember the ink colors or dies I used so this organization system has saved me multiple times!
I use a program called Canva to organize my card making. I have a file called IN PROCESS and one called SUBMITTED for each month of the year (for my TE projects). I refer back to these folders often ... especially when I'm running low on creativity because it almost always sparks and peaks my interest and gets those crafty vibes flowing again!
As you can see in the following pics, I photograph everything along the way. Inks, dies, tools etc. Sometimes my entry includes multiple photos to document everything I've used. Doing this allows me to clean up as I go which is necessary for me because if my workspace is cluttered I seriously cannot think straight! 😂
I include notes about techniques I've used and more notes about the process. Sometimes these detailed notes are more important than the photos because I may have tried a new technique and there's no way of remembering what I did just by looking at the photos.
These photos are a journal of the journey! And as you can see in the notes on the photo below I actually glued my "S" upside down so noted it because some of the pics I took along the way show it rightside up then the finished card photo shows that I adhered it upside down 🤦🏼♀️. So Note To Self ... pay attention!!! 😂
This particular card was a bear so I ended up making another one for my Design Team project but that's okay. Making this one was a learning experience and will be sent to someone to brighten their day at some point.
Anyway, just wanted to share how I photograph and organize notes about my projects while in the process using my Canva program. I'd honestly be lost without it!
This might be way over the top for some of you and that's okay! I always say, "You Do You" and "I'll Do Me" but just maybe something in this article will help you with your card creation organization!
Have a question or a comment? Feel free to leave it below and I'll get right back to you!
Thanks so much for stopping by and taking this journey with me. I hope you have an extra amazing day today!
xoxo, Deby 💕
OMG! I thought I was the only one that couldn't remember what I used on a card I made! I drive myself crazy(er) trying to figure it out 🤣
